H&AWOA Woodlot Tour and Portable Band Sawmill Demonstration
Time: 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM
Location: Plaenksken Family Residence, Property located at 884 Indiana Rd East. (600 meters west off HWY 56, Halidmand County or travel east
on Indiana Rd. E from HWY 54 almost all the way to HWY 56)

The Haldimand & Area Woodlot Owners & Niagara Woodlot Owners are invited to attend an event "Woodlot Tour & Portable Band Sawmill
Demonstration" in Haldimand County at the property of Walter Plaenksken. The Plaenksken property is roughly 100 acres in size and boasts a
16 acre woodlot along with an 8 acre plantation done by Trees Unlimited.  
The Tour will begin with a walk through the plantation followed by a hike through the main woodlot. After our hike we will have a chance to
socialize over coffee & donuts back at Walter's garage. While socializing over coffee & donuts, Michael Kott will we be providing a Portable
Band Saw demonstration.
The Tour should last a few hours and will cover almost 2 km's of ground.  
Please bring a warm coat and rubber boots - they are a must.

The woodlot tour will begin at 10 am with Haldimand Forest technician Adam Biddle leading us through the former woodlot of H&AWOA
Director Bob Gray. Please meet by 10 am on Hines Rd. - this road is one road south of the Rosa Flora Greenhouses.
To get to the woodlot, take #15 Robinson Road which turns off of #3 HWY, then turn right on Bird Rd., continue to Diltz Rd. and turn left.
Turn left on Comfort Rd. and then left again at Hines Rd. The woodlot will be on the left side of Hines Rd. Watch for the H&AWOA signs.

After the woodlot tour, we will travel to the Rosa Flora Greenhouses at 717 Diltz Rd. Lunches will be eaten in the Rosa Flora lunch room.
Ralph DeBoer will answer any questions on the Rosa Flora wind turbine and their burning of biomass. The greenhouses tour will follow.

We will have a work day within the first 2 weeks of May, to lay down tarps  -   date TBA
         May,20 & 21 - 9:30am to 4pm. cut and trim brush.(Friday & Sat.)
        June,17 & 18 - 9:30am to 4pm cut and trim brush.(Friday & Sat.)
        July,7 & 8 9:30 to 4pm - cut and trim, also will have help these days(July) with the rangers.(Thursday & Friday.)
Possible nest crew on one of the other days.(May or June).  Cone harvest in August - dates toTBA
